Holiday Camp Reminder - Early Registration Saves $50

This year we have an exciting week planned! Guest speakers, hands-on science, and dynamic science presentations are sure to excite your child about learning science. Save $50 for Holiday Camp if you register by Dec. 6. Download the registration.

Holiday Food Drive - Give Food & Get FREE Admission!

CSTL is hosting a special food drive to benefit the Salvation Army and Island Harvest. From December 3rd - 7th (10am-4pm). CSTL will provide a free pass to the Amazing Animals Exhibit to anyone who brings 4 non-perishable items (limit of 2 passes per family. Download flyer.

 

CSTL Launches Capital Campaign to Construct New Exhibit Hall

CSTL has initiated a $100,000 capitol campaign to add a natural history exhibit hall to its existing facility. Dinosaurs will be the first exhibit scheduled to excite kids of all ages. Become a part this exciting project by contributing today. All contributors receive free passes to the new exhibit and recognition on our website. For anyone contributing $1,000 or more your name will be placed on a wall of honor in the new exhibit hall. Make checks payable to CSTL and mail to 1 Tanglewood Rd. RVC, NY 11570. Motorola, Arrow Electronics, and HONDA Foundation Fund Exhibit Concept

CSTL Received $85,000 in grant funds from Motorola,  Arrow Electronics, and the HONDA Foundation to fabricate  modular exhibits that will tour Long Island and the United States. The concept brings exhibits into communities that do not have local museums. The exhibit will feature artifacts and educational materials that give students  a chance to experience exhibits.

 

Amazing Animals Exhibit Continues to Attract Animal Lovers

The Amazing Animals Exhibit, which opened on July 5th continues to attract school groups, scout groups, and families. The exhibit features naturalistic environments and exotic reptiles, birds, and mammals from around the world. Some of the exhibit's noteworthy specimens include owls, a hawk, alligator, snakes, reptiles, and amphibians. A fun children's area allows kids to dig for fossils, make footprints, and play with animal puppets. The exhibit is open Wed.-Sun., 10-4pm. ($6/person). Learn More.

 

CSTL Awarded Grant from Fund for Women and Girls

The Fund for Women and Girls Announced that CSTL was awarded a grant to develop a program that focuses on girls and science. This program will be done in conjunction with Gear-Up.

 

Meadowbrook Bio-Blitz Successfully Finds a Diversity of Life!

Thanks to all who volunteered, the Meadowbrook Bio-Blitz was a huge success. This past September 680 volunteers and scientists inventoried living organisms along the Meadowbrook Corridor. CSTL administered the project on behalf of Nassau County government in an effort to better understand this natural resource. More details at www.meadowbrookbioblitz.org.
